Humanoid robots, or robots capable of moving in a manner resembling humans, have become one of China’s major ambitions in the field of technology. One piece of evidence is the humanoid robot factory that began operating in Guangdong, China, since the end of March 2026. This first humanoid robot factory in China has a large production capacity, up to 10,000 humanoid robots per year. The factory was established as a result of the collaboration between Leju Robotics and Dongfang Precision Science and Technology. To assemble humanoid robots, the factory integrates 24 assembly stages and 77 inspection points. With this support, the factory can produce one robot in 30 minutes, 50 percent more efficient than conventional assembly methods. Before leaving the production line, each robot also undergoes 41 work condition simulation tests to ensure that every humanoid robot can move beyond demonstrations and enter industrial operations. As part of the collaboration, Leju Robotics is responsible for developing the robot’s design and software, while Dongfang Precision handles large-scale production, system integration, and after-sales support. This trend is also evident in other Chinese robotics companies that are similarly pursuing large-scale production. Agibot, for example, has just announced their 10,000th humanoid robot. Meanwhile, Unitree Robotics is seeking funding of around 580 million US dollars to support the construction of a factory with a production capacity of up to 75,000 units per year. Although production continues to increase, the main challenge in the humanoid robot industry currently is no longer quantity, but rather software development.
