This is Prabowo's Challenge to Central Java Regarding Waste in 2028
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has challenged the Central Java Provincial Government to achieve a zero waste target by the end of 2028. “The regents’ promise for zero waste by the end of 2028. Central Java? Deal, right? Okay, deal,” said President Prabowo Subianto during his visit to the Integrated Environment and Education-Based Waste Processing Facility (TPST BLE) in Banyumas on Tuesday. The President’s challenge was met with a commitment from the local government officials who accompanied him on the working visit. This commitment is backed by data showing that 13 districts in Central Java have followed in the footsteps of the successful TPST BLE in Banyumas. The waste processing facility in Banyumas has pioneered the implementation of an integrated circular economy system. The TPST BLE Banyumas has proven capable of significantly reducing the waste burden entering the final disposal site. The President emphasised that the central government will provide full support through direct assistance for the development of these facilities. This assistance aims to improve existing infrastructure so that the 2028 zero waste target can be realised. Central government support also includes aspects of developing sorting machine technology to sharply increase the production capacity of processed waste products. “So, we from the central government will push this forward, and I will allocate direct assistance to develop, improve, expand, and make it more effective,” stated the Head of State. Previously, the President inspected the TPST BLE facility in Wlahar Wetan Village, Banyumas, which has a processing capacity of up to 75 tonnes per day with automatic sorting technology. The President hopes that the development of this technology will accelerate independent environmental problem-solving. The national focus on waste processing is also aimed at improving the quality of life and public health throughout Indonesia.
