Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) has announced a coffee brand that is hazardous to consumers. The brand in question is Kopi Jantan +++. The product has been found to contain chemical drug substances that pose risks to health. This coffee is marketed with claims of enhancing men’s stamina. BPOM has emphasised that the presence of these harmful chemicals in the coffee can trigger serious effects, ranging from kidney function disorders to heart problems for consumers who ingest it. “Products promoted as food, even claimed to boost virility, have been found upon examination to contain sildenafil citrate,” stated the Head of BPOM, Taruna Ikrar. For context, sildenafil citrate is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction. Consuming it requires a doctor’s prescription and must be under medical supervision. If this substance is consumed excessively and without proper measurement, it can have detrimental effects on the body, such as causing kidney failure, heart failure, or even death. The illegal product does not have any dosage standards. Therefore, consumers have no way to measure a safe limit for consumption. “The effects can cause serious health disorders, starting from kidney failure, heart failure, and even death,” he added.
