This Cow Breaks Record with Rp 7.4 Billion Sale, Leaving Owner Saddened

An Australian cattle sale has broken records. An Angus bull was sold for US$420,000 (Rp 7.4 billion) at an auction in the Central West region. This price surpasses the 2022 sale, where a young female Wagyu cow fetched US$400,000 (Rp 7 billion).

The buyer of the expensive bull is Gundungarra Angus from Moss Vale, Southern Highlands. The previous owner, Ross Thompson, expressed sadness when selling the bull, named Wyatt W50.

“He is truly extraordinary and difficult to criticise. I consider him the best bull, overall, that we have ever offered,” he said, as quoted by ABC, Saturday (5/9/2026).

“I found myself wondering why I was selling him once I arrived at the sale venue,” he added.

Thompson compared the bull’s appearance to that of a human supermodel, even describing him as versatile with a diverse global lineage.

The bull possesses superior genetics favoured by cattle breeders, ranging from ease of calving to significant weight gain.

Thompson also noted that the bull’s semen has attracted interest from various regions, including Australia, Canada, and the United States.

“It is wonderful to imagine people from other parts of the world viewing Australia as a potential genetic source. It is quite an exciting moment,” he said.
