This Cement Innovation Enables Road Repairs Without Prolonged Traffic Jams or Disruption to Residents' Activities
PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) has launched a sustainable construction innovation through its quick-drying concrete solution, SpeedCrete. This innovation is designed to address the challenges of road infrastructure repairs, which often cause traffic jams due to lengthy construction times.
With a technology-based and efficiency-driven approach, SpeedCrete forms part of SIG’s strategy to drive transformation in the construction industry through value-added derivative solutions. SpeedCrete employs rapid setting technology that enables concrete to reach initial strength and be ready for use within a few hours after application, allowing road repair work to be completed more quickly without significantly disrupting community activities.
The flexibility in setting time, ranging from 3 to 12 hours, allows this solution to be tailored to project needs and traffic density levels in various regions. With these advantages, SpeedCrete provides significant time efficiency while minimising the potential for economic losses due to traffic congestion.
SIG Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni stated that this innovation is a strategic step by SIG to strengthen its role as a provider of integrated construction solutions relevant to modern market needs.
“SpeedCrete not only offers speed in execution but also adds value in terms of cost efficiency and environmental sustainability. This aligns with SIG’s commitment to continuously deliver products and services that enhance the competitiveness of the national construction sector,” said Vita, quoted from her statement on Thursday.
SIG also offers integrated services in the implementation of SpeedCrete, covering traffic management, dismantling of old pavements, pouring, and reopening roads in a short time. The construction process, typically carried out at night, allows roads to be usable again by morning, thereby minimising the impact on road users.
This approach strengthens SIG’s position as a strategic partner in supporting the acceleration of infrastructure development and maintenance. SpeedCrete has been applied to various strategic projects in Indonesia, including repairs to TransJakarta bus routes, the Patung Pemuda roundabout area, the Koja Container Terminal, and several toll road sections such as the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar-Permata Panggang-Kayu Agung Toll, Jakarta-Merak Toll, Jabodetabek Toll, Pejagan-Pemalang Toll, Surabaya-Mojokerto Toll, and Surabaya-Gempol Toll.
