This Campus Hosts Leading Malaysian Academics to Strengthen Research, Curriculum, and Globally Reputable Publications
The Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (FT UNseb UNJ) continues to strengthen its commitment to driving academic internationalisation and improving the quality of the ‘tridarma’ of higher education through a series of international academic activities. These included a Visiting Professor programme, Curriculum Discussion, and a Writing Clinic for reputable scientific articles, such as those indexed in Scopus. The event took place over three days, from 2–4 June 2026, at the SFD Building A, 10th Floor, Faculty of Engineering, UNJ.
The event featured a prominent Malaysian academic, Professor Yun Hin Taufiq-Yap from the Department of Chemistry, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). An internationally renowned scientist and researcher, he possesses an extensive track record in research development, scientific publication, and global academic collaboration. In addition to being an influential academic in the Southeast Asian region, Professor Yun Hin Taufiq-Yap has also served as the Rector of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), further establishing his role in advancing higher education, research, and international academic networks.
On the first day, Professor Yun Hin Taufiq-Yap delivered a public lecture titled “Cultivating World-Class Researchers in a Dynamic University Environment”. In his presentation, he emphasised the importance of building a strong, collaborative, and innovative research culture to produce world-class researchers capable of addressing various global challenges. Alongside the public lecture, the programme included a “Research Laboratory Visit and Collaboration Discussion Session” aimed at strengthening research collaboration opportunities between FT UNJ and UPM.
The second day focused on Evaluating Curriculum and Discussion on Academic Collaboration under the theme “Bridging Education and Industry through Curriculum Reform”. This discussion addressed the necessity of curriculum reform that is adaptive to technological advancements, industrial needs, and global competency requirements. The session served as a strategic space for FT UNJ to enrich its curriculum and expand its international academic cooperation networks.
On the third day, Professor Yun Hin Taufiq-Yap conducted a Journal Coaching Clinic themed “How to Write a World-Class Scientific Paper: Strategies for High-Impact Publishing”. Through this session, lecturers and researchers at FT UNJ gained practical strategies for composing scientific articles that meet the standards of reputable international journals, specifically Scopus Q1-indexed journals. This was followed by a “Networking and Discussion with Related Experience Lecturers” session, providing a platform to share experiences regarding research management, publication, and global academic career development.
During the event, Professor Neneng Siti Silfi Ambarwati, Dean of FT UNJ, stated that this initiative is part of FT UNJ’s efforts to strengthen a world-class academic culture. She noted that the presence of Professor Yun Hin Taufiq-Yap provides valuable insights for lecturers, researchers, and students to increase research capacity, international publication, and the development of curricula relevant to global needs.
“Through this activity, we hope to build stronger collaboration between FT UNJ and Universiti Putra Malaysia, while simultaneously encouraging the emergence of reputable publications, research innovation, and the strengthening of internationally competitive education quality,” said Professor Neneng.
