Thirteen Suspects in Jogja Daycare Child Abuse Case Face First Trial Today
The alleged abuse case at Little Aresha daycare has entered a new phase. Thirteen initial suspects, including the head teacher and the chairman of the foundation that oversees the daycare, are scheduled to undergo their first hearing at the Yogyakarta District Court today.
The 13 suspects were the first group to be named after the case came to light. Their case files were transferred to the prosecution service by the police on 24 June 2026.
“Yes, the first hearing for the 13 suspects is being held today,” explained Sigit Kristianto, Head of General Crimes at the Yogyakarta District Prosecutor’s Office, when contacted by detikJogja on Tuesday (18/8/2026).
“All of them — 11 caregivers, the foundation chairman, and the head teacher,” he continued.
It was previously reported that the Yogyakarta City Police officially transferred the case files and suspects in the alleged abuse case at Little Aresha daycare to the Yogyakarta District Prosecutor’s Office. The files were declared complete, or P21, and ready to be handed over to the court.
Head of the Yogyakarta District Prosecutor’s Office, Hartono, said the handover was the second stage of the process in this case.
“Based on the results of formal and material examinations conducted by the public prosecutor team, the case files from the Yogyakarta City Police have been declared complete, or P21,” Hartono explained during a press conference at the Yogyakarta District Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday (24/6/2026).
“Therefore, in this second stage process, our public prosecutor team, under the coordination of the Head of General Crimes and the Coordinator from the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, has received, examined and verified a number of pieces of evidence and other evidentiary materials that will serve as the basis for the public prosecutors in the evidentiary process at trial,” he continued.
The prosecutor’s office has divided the case files of the 13 suspects in the alleged abuse case at Little Aresha daycare into three separate files. This division was made according to the respective roles of each suspect.
For the record, all 13 individuals who have been named as suspects are women. They are DK (51), AP (42), FN (30), NF (26), Lis (34), EN (26), SRm (54), DR (32), HP (47), ZA (30), SRj (50), DO (31), and DM (28).
“For this case, the files have been grouped into three files — the caregivers’ group file, the file relating to the head teacher, and the other one is the foundation chairman,” he explained.
“Because each of their charges is different. So they cannot be combined into a single transfer,” Hartono continued.
The grouping of the files, Hartono said, relates to the legal provisions under which they are charged. The application of articles and laws for each group of files differs because their roles also differ.
“The details regarding the suspects — for the caregivers there are 11. The initials are firstly HP binti AH, secondly DR binti SR, SL binti SSU, ENS binti S, ZA binti S, then DOS binti BS, DMA binti Z. Then DR binti W, L binti SR, FN binti SN. The eleventh is NFZ binti A,” he detailed.
“The next file is for the head teacher, API alias N binti HN, which is a separate file, and the other one is the foundation chairman, DK binti S, deceased,” Hartono explained.
Furthermore, Hartono said the next legal step after this second stage is for the public prosecutor team to immediately finalise the indictment in a thorough, clear and complete manner.
“And then it will be immediately transferred to the Yogyakarta District Court so that the trial can be held promptly to provide legal certainty for both the victims and the suspects,” he stated.
