CV Yong Fisheries has exported live grouper to Hong Kong for the third time in 2026. The fisheries company exported 4,625 kilograms of live grouper from the waters of Dusun Ubur, Southeast Maluku Regency, to Hong Kong via the sea vessel MV Great Fortune between 1–3 June 202 ถ6.

Tual Customs recorded that the total cumulative exports generated by CV Yong Fisheries to date amount to 21,091 kilograms, with a total export foreign exchange value of 290,471 US dollars. These figures demonstrate the significant potential of Maluku’s fisheries sector as a driver of regional exports and reinforce Maluku’s position as a producer of premium fishery commodities sought after by international markets.

“This export serves as evidence that marine products from eastern Indonesia are capable of meeting the needs of international markets, which are known for having high quality standards, particularly for live fish commodities,” stated the Head of the Tual Customs Office, Wahyu Lafrias, in a statement on Friday (5/6/2026).

Hong Kong remains one of the primary markets for live fishery products in Asia, prioritising product freshness and quality. The exported commodities consist of various high-value grouper species, including batik grouper, tiger grouper, rat grouper, mangrove grouper, sunu grouper, and mixed grouper. All fish were shipped live to maintain product quality until arrival at the destination.

Wahyu emphasised that Tual Customs is committed to supporting smooth export activities through optimal supervision and customs services, ensuring that flagship products from the Maluku region become increasingly competitive and capable of penetrating global markets. “We hope these export activities can be carried out consistently and sustainably, thereby helping to drive the regional economy, particularly in Tual City and its surroundings,” he concluded.
