Thieves target village chiefs
SERANG, West Java: A village chief from a nearby district had his bag containing Rp 27.5 million (US$13,000) stolen from his car, while he was buying gas here.
The police said yesterday that the chief of Citeureup village came to town to collect money from Bank Central Asia on Wednesday.
A day earlier the chief of the nearby Priayi village also had money, which he left in a parked car, stolen. The police said that Ikrom, the village chief, lost Rp 20,000 from his car, which he parked in a street here.
The police are investigating the case. (tis)
