Thieves make specialization

SEMARANG, Central Java: Three "specialists" in shoplifting women's underwear were arrested after one of the partners, unhappy with the distribution of their lacy loot, revealed their activities to the police.

The sticky-fingered trio was a family of one mother, her daughter and a daughter in law, chief of the Central Java police detective department Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna said yesterday.

The police confiscated the minibus the culprits used in their operations in Salatiga and Semarang, Antara reported.

Iman said the thieves usually entered a shop pretending to buy expensive underwear. When trying out their choices in the dressing room, they either hid or wore some of the garments under their clothes.

The mother and daughter, whose names were withheld, cried out loud when police officers arrested them at their homes, Iman said. (pan)
