Police have revealed the methods used by thieves who broke into a state primary school (SDN) in Cibinong District, Bogor, West Java. The perpetrators used chemicals to destroy the padlock mechanisms.

“It is suspected that the perpetrators damaged the padlock mechanisms using chemicals,” said Bogor Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief AKP Anggi Eko Prasetyo on Friday (20 February 2026).

The discovery was made following an investigation at the crime scene. Police found fragments of damaged padlock components scattered around the area.

“At the front gate entrance, near the sports field gate, and in front of the teachers’ room door, we found damaged padlocks and several fragments from the padlock internals,” he explained.

In addition, the perpetrators are believed to have used a number of other tools during the break-in. The identity of the suspects remains under investigation.

“Furthermore, the perpetrators are suspected of having forced open the doors to the computer laboratory and the teachers’ room using tools. The suspects are under investigation,” he added.

Dozens of Electronic Devices Stolen

Dozens of electronic devices were stolen from the state primary school in Cibinong District, Bogor Regency, West Java. The items were taken from the computer laboratory, the headmaster’s office, the teachers’ room, and the kitchen.

“From the headmaster’s office: one sound system unit, one projector, one printer, and one loudspeaker unit,” said Bogor Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief AKP Anggi Eko Prasetyo.

He added that from the computer laboratory, the perpetrators stole 24 personal computer units. They also made off with 60 tablet units and two loudspeaker units.

Meanwhile, from the school kitchen, the perpetrators took one 3-kilogramme gas canister and one rice cooker. From the teachers’ room, they stole one projector unit and one television unit.

“Evidence recovered includes one pair of door bolts, one padlock, one padlock cover, padlock fragments, one kitchen knife and cutter, a hammer head, and padlock component fragments,” he explained.
