Thief Stripped Naked by Mob After Being Caught Stealing Motorcycle in Bogor

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man, identified only as FR, after he was caught stealing a motorcycle and subsequently stripped naked by a mob in Rangga Mekar, South Bogor District, Bogor City.

South Bogor Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Iptu Suwandi, confirmed the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing questioning.

Suwandi explained that the suspect was caught in the act by the motorcycle’s owner while attempting to steal the vehicle, which was parked on the terrace of the owner’s home. The owner’s shouts alerted local residents, who chased and apprehended the suspect.

‘The suspect was caught by the owner while trying to steal the motorcycle. The residents then caught him,’ Suwandi said on Monday.

A video circulating on social media shows the suspect being escorted by officers while wearing only his underwear, following the mob’s actions.

According to Suwandi, the suspect used a key to start the motorcycle rather than forcing the ignition. The owner reported that the key had been missing for some time.

‘He stole it using a regular key. It is not yet known how he obtained the victim’s key. He started the motorcycle and rode it away while it was parked in front of the house,’ Suwandi said. ‘We are still investigating, but according to the victim, that key had been lost for a long time, so they had been using a spare key.’
