Thief nabbed in Tangerang

TANGERANG: Police arrested on Sunday evening a security officer of PT Citra Langgeng Otomotive Impresa for stealing a number of valuables and some money from the company office on Jl. TB. Simatupang 19, Cilandak, South Jakarta last week.

Tangerang Police chief detective Adj. Comr. Kustanto said on Monday that the suspect Muhamadi, 34, was seen driving the stolen blue Kijang B8136 XK on Jl. Raya Serang on Monday evening.

"We followed the car until Serdang Asri in Cikupa district on Tangerang regency. But when the car was stopped the suspect tried to escape so the police shot him in his left leg before he was nabbed," he said.

He said the suspect stole the car along with a TV set, a computer and a printer and some money from the company last week.

"I tried to borrow some money from the company for my father's burial ceremony, but I was not given it so I stole it with the help of my colleague Edi," Muhamadi said.--JP
