Thief Breaks into Pawn Shop in Depok, Flees via Roof When Intercepted by Police
Police footage of officers raiding a pawn shop in Pancoran Mas, Depok, has circulated on social media. The raid was conducted following a report of an attempted theft.
In the video viewed on Monday (2 March 2026), police can be seen conducting searches within the shop, extending to the roof area where damage was discovered.
The incident occurred on Sunday (1 March). According to the narrative, a patrol team was on standby on Jalan Raya Cipayung when residents requested assistance.
CCTV footage showed the perpetrator entering the shop, but by the time police arrived, the suspect had already fled, apparently through the roof, as the gate lock remained intact.
The Public Relations Chief of Depok Metro Police Station, AKP Made Budi, confirmed that the shop owner monitored the perpetrator via CCTV and was too frightened to enter the shop alone.
“The owner was afraid to enter the shop and requested our assistance,” he said.
Upon entering the shop, the perpetrator had not yet managed to steal anything. The only damage sustained was to the roof and ceiling of the shop, which had been broken through.
“So far only the ceiling and asbestos roof panels have been damaged; the valuables remain safely secured in the safe,” he concluded.
