Thief at Praz Teguh's Restaurant Caught on CCTV Pretending to Make a Phone Call Before Striking

Police are investigating a theft at the restaurant of comedian Praz Teguh on Margonda Raya Street in Depok, West Java. The incident was captured on CCTV at the restaurant and went viral on social media.

In a video uploaded to the personal Instagram account @praz_teguh, the suspect wearing a batik shirt is seen approaching the restaurant. The suspect briefly left and re-entered the restaurant while pretending to make a phone call. He sat at a table near the victim.

The suspect calmly slid the brown bag belonging to the victim, which was placed on the floor. The victim, engaged in conversation, did not realise the bag slowly moved towards the suspect.

The act took place during a busy period at the restaurant. After carrying out the theft, the suspect left the premises with the victim’s rucksack, and fled.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (3/3) at 18:22 WIB. The victim sustained losses including one Acer laptop, an iPhone 13, a wallet, the keys to his kos, and Rp 200,000 in cash.

Separately contacted, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Depok Metro Police, Kompol Made Gede Oka Utama, confirmed the incident. The case is currently under police investigation. ‘Yes, that’s correct. It is still under investigation,’ Made said when contacted by reporters on Thursday (5/3/2026).
