Thief arrested in Blok M

Cries of help from the victim of a mugging in Blok M Shopping
Complex, South Jakarta, prompted action by a security guard
stationed nearby.

A group of unknown people mugged Sukarso, a resident of
Jembatan II, Jelambar, West Jakarta.

The victim joined the security guard and other passers-by in
an attempt to catch the muggers.

One of the muggers, identified as PG, 25, was brought to a
local police station and arrested while the rest managed to
escape. They viciously attacked the victim by striking him in the
head with an axe then stole his bag.

According to the police, the suspect is now detained in South
Jakarta police station for further investigation, while the
victim received medical treatment in hospital for the injury to
the left side of his head. The police are unable to estimate
Sukardi's personal loss as he is unavailable for questioning.(22)
