Thick Haze from Forest Fires, Volunteers Distribute Oxygen to Residents of Pontianak
Volunteers from Rumah Oksigen brought oxygen cylinders to residents in Pontianak and to firefighting personnel on Monday (14/9), who were experiencing difficulty breathing due to the thick haze from forest and land fires.
Before receiving treatment, the volunteers measured the residents’ blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels.
Indonesia is currently struggling to extinguish its worst forest fires in 11 years.
Emissions from the fires between 1 and 7 September reached 19.7 million metric tonnes, the highest figure in the world during that period.
