Thick clouds expected to blanket Jakarta on Wednesday morning
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that thick clouds will blanket the entire Jakarta region on Wednesday morning. All areas of Jakarta are expected to be overcast around 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, with these conditions persisting into the afternoon. However, by the afternoon, West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Central Jakarta are predicted to be cloudy, while South Jakarta and East Jakarta will experience light rain. The Thousand Islands are forecast to remain thickly overcast. By the evening, the entire Jakarta area is expected to be partly cloudy. Meanwhile, BMKG analysis indicates that the El Niño phenomenon is predicted to persist until early 2027, with a 75 percent chance of it being in a very strong category. This phenomenon directly impacts the reduction of rainfall in parts of Indonesia, at least until October 2026. The peak of the 2026 dry season is predicted to occur between July and September 2026.
