JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Home Affairs has stipulated that several local government (Pemda) service offices remain open as usual despite the work-from-home (WFH) policy.

In Circular Letter (SE) number 800.1.5/3349/SJ issued on Tuesday (31/3/2026), several government services exempted from the WFH policy are mentioned, including:

  1. Government units handling disaster affairs, public order and security, as well as community protection (Trantibumlinmas).

  2. Civil registration and population services (Ducapil).

  3. Licensing in the field of investment.

  4. Health services.

  5. Education services.

  6. Regional revenue services.

  7. Other public services that directly interact with the community.

In his statement, the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Tito Karnavian, said that WFH applies to support units with a selective approach and ensures that the performance targets of civil servants (ASN) are still achieved.

The budget from the resulting savings can be used to support priority programmes of the Pemda.

Based on the SE, this policy takes effect today, Wednesday (1/4/2026).

β€œAnd this provision, this policy, will be evaluated for two months,” Tito said.

Meanwhile, governors are to report the implementation of the SE to the Minister of Home Affairs at the latest on the 4th of the following month.
