RICE has become the most purchased commodity by residents during the implementation of the Affordable Food Movement (GPM) in Kuningan Regency.
Since February 23, 2026, the Kuningan Regency Government through the Food Security and Agriculture Service (Diskatan) has held the GPM successively at 15 different locations until March 11, 2026.
From the 3 GPMs that have been held, namely in Seda Village (Mandirancan District), Haurkuning Village (Nusaherang District), and Kasturi Village (Kuningan District), rice, chicken eggs and cooking oil became the most purchased commodities by residents.
“Rice, cooking oil and chicken eggs are the most purchased commodities,” said the Head of Diskatan Kuningan Regency, Wahyu Hidayah, Thursday (26/2).
In addition to the three most purchased commodities, the GPM also provides food products in the form of sugar, chicken meat, beef and red onions and garlic.
“During the three GPM events this Ramadan, the average distribution per location ranges from 6 to 7 tons of commodities absorbed. In total, there are about 20 tons,” Wahyu continued.
Most of the products are absorbed in a relatively short time due to the high needs of the community during Ramadan.
In each implementation, the government prepares a stock of rice up to 3 tons per location, cooking oil about 300 liters, chicken eggs 250 kilograms, beef 250 kilograms, sugar 200 kilograms, and various horticultural commodities such as chili and vegetables.
“The price difference with market prices is quite significant,” he added.

Wahyu gave an example that for premium rice, at the GPM it is sold for only Rp12 thousand per kilogram which is purchased in 5 kilogram packages. Meanwhile, the price of premium rice in the market is now at Rp14,900 per kilogram.
For beef at the GPM it is only sold for Rp120 thousand per kilogram, while in the market the price has reached Rp140 thousand to Rp145 thousand per kilogram.
This significant price difference is because Diskatan buys directly from the first-hand products sold at the GPM. “For premium rice, we buy it from gapoktan. We subsidize Rp 2 thousand. The same goes for beef,” Wahyu said.
He expressed his gratitude because the community’s response was very positive because the price difference provided was quite competitive compared to market prices. “Since early in the morning, residents have crowded the event location, and a number of commodities have run out before the event ends.”
Meanwhile, a resident of Kasturi Village, Inah, admitted that she was very helped by the GPM. The significant price difference helps save household expenses during Ramadan.
“It’s very helpful, especially during Ramadan like now. The prices here are cheaper than the market, so shopping can be more economical. Hopefully, events like this will continue,” she said.
