These are Pasar Jaya's steps to prevent waste accumulation at Kramat Jati Market
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perumda Pasar Jaya is undertaking several efforts to ensure that waste disposal flows remain under control while preventing repeated accumulation at the Kramat Jati Main Market in Jakarta, one of which involves regulating and screening waste.
Previously, the volume of waste in the area was estimated at around 6,970 tonnes, equivalent to approximately 410 tronton trucks, triggered by technical constraints in providing transport fleets since 9 March 2026.
Manager of Public Relations at Perumda Pasar Jaya, Topik Hidayatulloh, in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday, said that they are coordinating with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environmental Agency for waste transportation.
“We are continuing intensive coordination with relevant agencies to ensure that all waste piles can be fully transported as soon as possible,” he said.
In the last two days, 33 tronton trucks have been deployed, consisting of 20 vehicles on the previous day and 13 on Saturday (29/3). Intensive cleaning will continue until market conditions return to normal.
Then, to strengthen the waste management system, in the short term, Perumda Pasar Jaya is processing the procurement of five independent waste trucks with a capacity of 16 cubic metres per unit.
In addition, cooperation with third parties will also be optimised to accelerate waste distribution and transportation.
Meanwhile, in the long term, Perumda Pasar Jaya is promoting the implementation of sustainable waste processing technology.
Trials of thermal hydrolysis technology as well as the MASARO (Zero Waste Management) system are being prepared as innovative solutions to process waste directly at the source.
“These steps are expected not only to resolve the current issues but also to build a better waste management system,” said Topik.
