These Are Iran's 5 Demands If the US Wants to End the War
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHERAN – Iran has stated it will not participate in the second round of negotiations with the United States (US) unless its five demands are fulfilled to restore trust with Washington. Fars News Agency on Tuesday (12/5/2026) revealed, citing sources, that these conditions from Iran are the “minimum guarantees” that must be met for new negotiations with the US to proceed.
Iran’s five demands are: ending the war on all fronts, particularly in Lebanon; lifting sanctions; releasing Iran’s frozen assets; providing compensation for war damages; and recognising Iran’s sovereignty rights over the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has also informed Pakistan, as the mediator, that the continuation of the US naval blockade in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman after the ceasefire is increasingly heightening Iran’s distrust in conducting the latest talks on negotiations with the US, according to the sources.
The report added that Iran’s demands are solely to build trust for returning to the negotiating table. Tehran believes negotiations cannot begin without the concrete realisation of all five conditions.
According to Fars, Iran’s five conditions were submitted in response to the 14 points proposed by the US side. The US proposals are considered too one-sided and merely an attempt to secure objectives that failed to be achieved during the war.
On Sunday (10/5/2026), Iran conveyed to Pakistan its response to the US proposal for ending the war. US President Donald Trump described Iran’s response as completely unacceptable.
