Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia is preparing at least two strategic policies to address global uncertainties and the rise in global avtur prices.

“President Prabowo conveyed two important policies amid global uncertainties and the increase in global avtur prices, namely regarding the reduction in Hajj costs and the evaluation of forest areas for mining,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in an official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Teddy stated that this was conveyed by the Head of State during a meeting with all members of the Merah Putih Cabinet up to echelon I at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta.

Regarding this year’s Hajj organisation, Teddy assured that the government has emphasised that the Hajj cost per pilgrim this year will not increase and will even be reduced by around Rp2 million.

In addition, the government is also striving to accelerate the Hajj waiting list queue, which starting this year is targeted to be a maximum of 26 years.

“Amid the rise in global avtur prices, President Prabowo has assured that the 2026 Hajj costs will not increase, and will even be reduced by around Rp2 million. The Hajj queue will no longer be 48 years; starting this year, the longest Hajj queue will be 26 years,” he said.

Furthermore, he continued, as a response to the rise in global avtur prices which impacts flight tariff increases, the government will also provide financing support for 220,000 affected prospective Hajj pilgrims amounting to Rp1.77 trillion.

The government will also soon realise the construction of the Indonesian Hajj Village in Mecca as part of improving services for pilgrims.

Regarding forest area protection, Teddy conveyed that President Prabowo has asked the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia to conduct a thorough evaluation of Mining Business Permits (IUP).

“President Prabowo has instructed the Minister of ESDM to immediately evaluate existing IUPs in protected forest areas, conservation forests, national parks, and forest areas to be evaluated and returned to the state for those that violate,” he explained.
