These 3 Cement Companies in Indonesia with PMA Status
The cement industry in Indonesia is not solely dominated by local companies and state-owned enterprises but also by Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) entities. The presence of foreign investors strengthens national production capacity while intensifying competition in the domestic market. Moreover, cement factory construction is a capital-intensive industry. The cement industry itself has long been one of the backbones of infrastructure development in Indonesia. Here are three cement factory companies in Indonesia with PMA status, compiled from the SIMPK (Construction Materials and Equipment Information System) of the Ministry of Public Works: PT Conch Cement Indonesia is part of Anhui Conch Cement Company Limited, one of the world’s largest cement producers from China. In Indonesia, this company is quite aggressive in targeting markets outside Java island. Its products are widely circulated in South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and West Papua. With an extensive distribution network, Conch Cement has become one of the dominant foreign players in several regions outside Java. 2. PT Semen Imasco Asiatik PT Semen Imasco Asiatik is the producer of Singa Merah cement, with its factory located in Jember, East Java. This company is fully owned by Hongshi Holding Group from China, which began investing in Indonesia in 2018. In addition, the Hongshi group is expanding its investment by building another factory in East Kalimantan through PT Kobexindo Cement. 3. PT SCG Cement Indonesia PT SCG Cement Indonesia is a PMA company that is part of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG), a cement giant from Thailand. In Indonesia, SCG is also one of the largest cement producers. Its factory is located in Sukabumi, West Java, and serves as the production base for the Indonesian market. Interestingly, SCG’s ownership is under the Crown Property Bureau, Thailand’s royal investment institution associated with King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
