Theo, alleged victims fail to show up

JAKARTA: The former chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Theo Toemion, and two of his alleged assault victims failed to appear at city police headquarters on Monday for questioning.

City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono said none of the three provided the police with an explanation for their failure to answer the summons.

"This is just the first summon. We will invite them again and we hope they can come sometime this week," said Tjiptono.

Police summoned Theo and two foreigners, identified as CR and DM, to shed light on an alleged assault at the Jakarta International School (JIS) in South Jakarta on April 17.

Theo allegedly slapped CR, a 14-year-old boy who refereed a basketball game in which Theo's youngest son participated. DM was the coordinator for the basketball game.

Police have so far questioned a U.S. citizen, identified as TR, who said he saw Theo assault the boy on April 17.

Officers also have questioned Second Brig. Sofyan, a member of the city police's vital objects protection unit, Riyo Santoso, the head of security at JIS, and two security guards at the school, Tatang and Junaedy. All four were on duty at the school at the time of the incident. --JP
