Thee dead in car crashes

SURABAYA, East Java: At least three people, including a
policeman, died and four others were wounded in car crashes in
the East Java towns of Madiun and Jombang on the eve of Idul
Fitri festivities.

Two policemen were among those injured in the separate
accidents, police in East Java said.

The crash in Madiun took place on Sunday at 09:20 a.m. when
two policemen riding a motorcycle collided with a van on Jalan
Cokroaminoto. The two were taken to hospital for medical
treatment.

On Saturday night, a Jeep carrying five people was hit by a
train at Jabon village in Jombang, killing three people -- a
policeman, Joko Suwito, 14-year old Sama and 11-year old Betan.
