The Volvo case
The Volvo case
People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Hidayat Nur
Wahid's rejection of the official Volvo limousines has a moral
element to it and is also smart, especially because Volvo is
Swedish brand, the same country that is "protecting" Free Aceh
Movement (GAM) leader Hasan Tiro.
In addition, Nur Wahid is against overly luxurious hotel
facilities and prefers to return home after MPR sessions. This
moral movement should be supported and welcomed by the mass
media.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Jusuf
Kalla, too, should welcome this movement and, if necessary, issue
a decree regulating ministers' official cars, so that they will
use "modest cars" and dress modestly.
