The Trail of Four Acid Attackers of Andrie Yunus: Gathered at Gambir, Scattered to Pancoran-Bogor
Jakarta – The movements of four men suspected of being involved in an acid attack against Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of KontraS, have been captured by 86 CCTV cameras.
A total of 2,610 video recordings with a combined duration of 10,320 minutes documented the movements of the suspected perpetrators.
Based on the CCTV recordings, the suspects were first seen gathering in front of Gambir Station in Central Jakarta, having arrived from the direction of South Jakarta on Thursday afternoon, 12 March 2026.
The Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Brigadier Iman Imanudin, stated that the suspects had circled around the National Monument (Monas) area before heading towards the YLBHI office.
At that location, they allegedly waited for Andrie to leave after attending an event in the evening.
“Based on analysis of CCTV recordings from several points in the Jakarta area, the suspected perpetrators tracked the victim’s movements from before the incident occurred,” Iman told journalists at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Monday, 16 March 2026.
Subsequently, the suspects followed Andrie as he moved towards the Cikini petrol station to refuel. At that point, Andrie drove around Borobudur Street, then turned right onto Proklamasi Street.
Instead of taking the left route on Pegangsaan Barat Street, Andrie chose the right route on Pegangsaan Timur Street to reach the petrol station.
While Andrie was refuelling, the suspected perpetrators appeared to be waiting at a fast-food restaurant located approximately one building away from the petrol station.
“Allegedly, four suspected perpetrators using two motorcycles waited for the victim in front of the KFC at Cikini,” Iman explained.
After finishing refuelling, Andrie continued his journey and passed by the YLBHI office again. His movements were then followed by the perpetrators.
Once Andrie pulled over, the perpetrators immediately fled. The container used to carry the liquid was found not far from the incident location, along with a helmet allegedly belonging to one of the perpetrators.
The CCTV footage subsequently showed that the two motorcycles of the perpetrators separated in different directions. One motorcycle turned towards the Senen area via Kramat Raya Street.
