The Thrill of Pushing a Sports Car with Bridgestone Potenza RE005
Bridgestone Asia Pacific has officially launched the Potenza Adrenalin RE005 to meet consumer demand for high-performance tyres capable of everyday use. Potenza Adrenalin RE005 can be fitted to conventional high-performance cars and to fully electric vehicles. Developed around the clear aim of ‘Maximising Driving Enjoyment’, RE005 features several key advantages over the previous Potenza Adrenalin line. ‘This product has incorporated the latest design technologies and the latest analytic technologies. We also use new material component design technologies, all linked to our motorsport experience,’ said Takahashi Oono, Chief Technology Officer of Bridgestone Asia Pacific (Thailand) Co., Ltd., at the Bridgestone proving ground in Sanam Thuep, Thailand, on Friday 6 March 2026.
First is Superior Handling, delivering sharp control for better precision and instant response. I experienced this myself when pushing a Toyota GR86 around the proving ground track, both during a cornering manoeuvre at 100 km/h and in a cone-slalom at 70 km/h.
With better grip, RE005 can keep the vehicle stable. Steering control is also more precise, so the driver is not burdened with handling the car. Furthermore, the distinctive and iconic ‘A’-shaped tread pattern is not merely a gimmick, but offers precise and predictable control even in the tightest of bends. ‘Designed to navigate sharp corners and accelerate with confidence as you exit,’ he said.
Not only on dry tracks, Potenza Adrenalin RE005 delivers excellent grip on wet tracks as well. It was proven when I pushed a BMW 3 Series on a wet surface; all four wheels continued to provide good steering control. When speed was increased to 50 km/h on a twisting circular track, all four wheels remained stable in distributing power with no signs of slip.
