With his tall stature, Anan Nurakhman was appointed as Commander of Detachment Group A of the Presidential Security Force during the early days of President Joko Widodo’s leadership in 2014. The reason for selecting someone with a tall physique was to serve as a shield for the President in the event of any dangerous incidents. In Jokowi’s second term, Brigadier General Anan once again became Commander of Group A of the Presidential Security Force. He served as a human shield while escorting President Joko Widodo on a peace visit to Kyiv amid the raging Russia-Ukraine war. The visit was conducted overland by train for 12 hours.
