The Story of Husein Gaza, Who Faced Frustration Upon Returning to Indonesia

The founder of International Networking for Humanitarian (INH), Muhammad Huse Asca, has urged the public to transform emotional support for Palestine into a strategic, science-based movement. He stated that the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque requires more than just social media solidarity; it necessitates a systematically developed blueprint.

Husein delivered this message during a keynote session at the ‘Baitul Maqdis: The Blueprint’ event held at the Abdulrahman Saleh RRI Auditorium in Jakarta on Sunday (2/8/2026). “Up until now, we have remained a reactive and emotional society. When that emotion is not directed within a strategic structure, our anger will only lead to exhaustion and frustration,” Husein remarked.

He shared his personal experience of living in the Gaza Strip for 12 years. During that period, he witnessed various Israeli military aggressions and lost many members of his extended family in Palestine, before finally being evacuated to Indonesia in 2023 at the request of his family and friends in Gaza.

According to Husein, his return to Indonesia does not mark the end of the struggle. On the contrary, residents of Gaza requested that he open the eyes of the Indonesian people to the ongoing humanitarian tragedy. “They told me, your presence there is no longer strategic. Return to Indonesia, and awaken the millions of people who are sleeping. Your role outside of Gaza is more strategic,” he said.

Husein admitted to feeling frustrated after returning to Indonesia, as his various campaigning efforts through social media and various forums struggled to maintain consistent public attention towards the tragedy in Palestine. He subsequently met with Professor Abdul Fattah el-Awaisi, an academic specialising in Baitul Maqdis studies, which provided him with a new perspective on the importance of building a struggle based on academic and scientific foundations.
