The Story Behind the Bullying of a SMAN 2 Bantul Alumnus: From Uncovering Exam Leaks to Mental Breakdown
Dini Sandra, a companion to an alumnus of SMAN 2 Bantul who claims to be a victim of bullying, has detailed the events that led to the victim’s current mental health problems. She stated that it all began when the victim tried to help uncover a case of exam paper leaks.
Dini explained that initially, the victim merely fulfilled a teacher’s request to investigate the leak. However, after successfully uncovering the source, the teacher instead named the victim as the perpetrator.
Dini said she had communicated with the victim’s friends from both junior high and senior high school to understand what the victim had been experiencing and when it started. “I happened to communicate with his friends from junior high and senior high. It turns out there was a difference in his condition; he was fine during junior high and also fine in Year 10,” Dini told detikJogja on Monday (22/6/2026).
Dini continued that the change in the victim became apparent when he was in Year 11. At that time, a teacher asked for the victim’s help regarding a leak of computer-based exam questions. “Then in Year 11, during a computer-based exam, there was a leak of questions at SMAN 2 Bantul. This student, who happened to be the Chairman of the IT Club, was asked for help by a teacher,” she said.
“He was asked if he could find out who first leaked the questions, because the leak originated from SMAN 1 (Bantul),” Dini added. The victim agreed to the request and was even able to identify the person responsible for the leak. “So, he found them,” she stated.
The person who leaked the questions was a female student in Year 11. Subsequently, the school asked the student to withdraw voluntarily. “Because a formal expulsion (DO) would protect the school’s reputation. So the school did not want to expel her or issue a DO. The student was forced to leave and eventually transferred,” she said.
After successfully uncovering who leaked the exam questions, the victim did not receive thanks from the teacher. Instead, he was slandered. “In the end, instead of receiving thanks from the teacher, it was spread among the teachers and parents that this student was the one who leaked the questions. Even though he was the one who helped find the main suspect,” she said.
The matter even spread to the parents’ association group, where the teacher asked other parents to shun the victim. “Perhaps his mental state was affected; we don’t know, because he was still a teenager. So he felt, from having many friends because he was good at IT and was often asked questions, why were people suddenly avoiding him?” she said.
Dini mentioned that the victim still keeps evidence of these conversations. Additionally, Dini revealed that the victim often spoke about a particular teacher who frequently looked down on him. “From the teachers as well, he often talked about one teacher who would often meet him and say, ‘halah-halah mas, just looking at your face makes me feel sorry for you,’” she said.
Despite such treatment, Dini said the victim tried to endure and complete his education. “But the child tried to survive so he could graduate and be friends with the one or two people who still wanted to be his friends,” she said. After graduating, the victim finally sought help at a psychiatric clinic. It turned out he was suffering from a mental disorder and recently shared his story on social media. “After graduating in June 2025, he finally dared to get checked at the psychiatric clinic,” Dini said.
Regarding the existence of other victims, Dini could not comment further, noting that all claims require prior evidence. “For that, there must be evidence first before it can be explained,” she said. The victim’s story went viral starting from a post on the Threads account @gh05tx0. The school later responded with a statement posted on their official Instagram account, apologising for the circulating news, conducting an investigation and evaluation, and stating they are ready to take responsibility if the claims are proven.
