The State Must Not Lose to Gambling Bookmakers!

Bareskrim Polri has arrested 320 foreign nationals (WNA) and one Indonesian citizen (WNI) suspected of involvement in cross-border online gambling (judol) operations. The arrests and raid took place at an operational location for judol in an office in the Hayam Wuruk area, West Jakarta, on Saturday (9/5/2026). Member of DPR Commission III Rudianto Lallo has called on the police to pursue the bookmakers, money flows, and parties backing the judol operations in the Hayam Wuruk area, Jakarta. “Uncover it down to the roots. Do not stop at the field operators alone. Pursue the bookmakers, the money flows, including those operating behind the scenes,” Rudianto told reporters on Tuesday (12/5/2026). He firmly stated that the state must not lose to the crime of online gambling, which is increasingly developing in many countries. Moreover, online gambling has become a dangerous spectre that destroys society from the upper to the lower classes. “The state must not lose to gambling bookmakers. Do not let Indonesia become a haven for gambling bookmakers,” said Rudianto. The uncovering of the judol operations in Hayam Wuruk must serve as a momentum for Polri to dismantle this crime. “I believe Polri is serious. Now, the consistency of its enforcement must be maintained. Do not give even the slightest room for the online gambling mafia to grow in this country,” said the NasDem Party politician. “The state must not lose to digital criminals. Online gambling has destroyed many families, caused social problems, and threatened the future of the younger generation. Therefore, its eradication must be a joint priority,” emphasised Abdullah in his statement on Monday (11/5/2026). Abdullah stated that the uncovering of the online gambling case must not stop at the arrest of 320 WNA and one WNI in the Hayam Wuruk area.
