The West Java Provincial Government, together with the Bandung City Government, will hold the main event of the Sundanese Cultural Parade on Saturday, May 16th. This event is one of the main series of events commemorating the Sundanese Cultural Day, featuring a cultural procession involving various traditional elements, arts, and regional leaders from West Java.
The parade will begin at Kiara Artha Park and end in the Gedung Sate area. The route will start from Kiara Artha Park to Jalan Jakarta, then continue to Jalan Supratman, and finish on Jalan Diponegoro, right in front of Gedung Sate.
The Acting Head of the Bandung City Communication and Information Office, Andri Darusman, stated that the cultural parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Along the route, the public will be entertained with various cultural attractions involving royal carriages, cavalry troops, and art performances from various regions.
“The parade procession is expected to be lively with a diverse array of participants. Starting from those carrying janur (decorative palm fronds), Balinese and Sundanese dancers, to a procession of royal carriages carrying important symbols such as the Mahkota Binokasih (Binokasih Crown),” he explained.
In addition, Andri said that the parade will also be attended by 13 traditional villages and representatives of arts from 27 regencies/cities in West Java. At the end of the parade on Jalan Diponegoro, an important ceremony will be held, namely the handover of the Mahkota Binokasih by the Governor of West Java to the Sumedang Larang Palace.
“To support the smooth running of the event, the committee has also prepared various facilities along the route. These include the provision of water stations and health posts every 1 kilometer, as well as portable toilets for participants and spectators,” he said.
According to Andri, not only the parade, the series of events will continue on the following night, Sunday, May 17th, 2026, with the Peuting Munggaran Milangkala Tatar Sunda event, which will begin at 8:00 PM in the West Parking Lot of Gedung Sate.
