The Razman Arif Case: From Feud with Hotman Paris to Imprisonment at Cipinang

Lawyer Razman Arif Nasution has officially been transferred to the Class I Cipinang Penitentiary after the legal ruling against him became final and binding. The execution was carried out by the North Jakarta District Attorney’s Office to enforce a sentence of one year and six months in prison for defamation against lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea. The case that ensnared Razman began with a feud with Hotman Paris in 2022. The conflict between the two escalated from mutual accusations to a criminal process that lasted several years, passing through the stages of investigation, trial, appeal, and cassation, until finally being executed in June 2026. The conflict between Razman Arif Nasution and Hotman Paris Hutapea first emerged in April 2022. At that time, Razman reported Hotman to the police regarding alleged posts with immoral content on social media. In response to the report, Hotman retaliated by mocking Razman and asking him not to be envious or snide towards him. In the same month, Razman again levelled accusations at Hotman. This time he accused Hotman of allegedly harassing his former personal assistant, Putri Iqlima Aprilia, also known as Iqlima Kim. Hotman denied all the accusations and stated he would take legal action. On 10 May 2022, Hotman Paris reported Razman Arif Nasution and Iqlima Kim to the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police for alleged defamation. A significant development occurred in July 2022 when Iqlima Kim decided to no longer use Razman’s services as her legal counsel. Iqlima even claimed to be a victim of advocate malpractice and stated that she had never experienced harassment as previously alleged against Hotman Paris. Subsequently, in August 2022, Razman underwent questioning by investigators regarding the report made by Hotman. After the investigation process proceeded, the case entered the trial stage in December 2024. Prosecutors charged Razman Arif Nasution and Iqlima Kim with defaming Hotman Paris Hutapea. The trial marked the beginning of the evidentiary process at the North Jakarta District Court.
