The Public Can Report Problematic Daycares to the Government – Here's How!
Jakarta, VIVA – The Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga)/BKKBN has opened a complaint and consultation service for child care centres (TPA) or daycares that are problematic in various regions. Kemendukbangga/Head of BKKBN Wihaji stated that complaints can be submitted through Family Support Teams (TPK) in the regions, consisting of midwives, PKK cadres, and Family Planning cadres, one of whose main tasks is also to protect families at risk of stunting. “We have also prepared complaints. If there are matters that need consultation, please do so. We do have a programme called Taman Asuh Sayang Anak (Tamasya), but that programme has strict requirements; the caregivers must have certificates,” he said while monitoring stunting-risk families in Lebak, Banten, on Thursday, 30 April 2026. Wihaji emphasised that to date, there are already 3,200 Tamasya under the guidance of Kemendukbangga/BKKBN, whose operations comply with standards and are equipped with certified caregivers. “We also requested data yesterday from the victim mothers; if consultation is needed, we are prepared, for what and how. The point is to be careful when choosing a daycare, because unfortunately, the incident in Yogyakarta serves as a lesson for us all; it turned out to be unlicensed, there was misuse, and so on,” he explained. Wihaji also expressed his concern over the incidents at Daycare Little Aresha in Yogyakarta and Daycare Baby Preneur in Banda Aceh. “Coincidentally, unfortunately, the daycare in Yogyakarta was unlicensed, therefore, we leave it to the relevant parties for handling. We leave it to the relevant parties, but from our ministry, insyaallah we are present,” he said. The Kemendukbangga/Head of BKKBN also emphasised that daycares are an answer to problems related to the workforce, so the presence of daycares should be one of the solutions. “Don’t let daycares become a new problem,” said Wihaji. Therefore, in accordance with the instructions from President Prabowo Subianto, one of which is the commitment to posyandu under the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), Kemendukbangga/BKKBN continues to strengthen its commitment to child protection through TPK to support the future generation starting from upstream.
