The President's vision
The President's vision
From Suara Karya
During the last 10 months of President Abdurrahman Wahid's, or Gus Dur's, administration, in my observations, his vision of leadership of the National Unity Cabinet he leads has not been clear. Facts: there hasn't been any improvement in Indonesia's economy, neither has the Cabinet's economic team's performance been good.
On Aug. 24, 2000 Gus Dur announced his new Cabinet, which is a result of required Cabinet restructuring. Many have expressed their disagreement over certain ministers relating to the new Cabinet. The President narrowed the departments by joining certain departments, which, in my opinion, is obviously harmful to all parties, in particular the civil servants concerned, whose fate has become increasingly uncertain.
Once again, I do not see Gus Dur's vision of leadership as the country's president. Where is he leading us to?
