The presidential candidate

Our question is -- is there any Indonesian citizen who is
entitled to be nominated as president? Of course there is. But
who?

In a situation that is full of problems and distrust, it is
difficult to find a candidate who will be immediately accepted by
most of the people. People will seek their past wrongdoings,
either during the New Order era or the Reform era. This means
that only those with good qualifications -- especially those who
are honest and with high moral standards -- will get the chance
to lead the country.

Meanwhile, it has been predicted that no party would get the
majority of the votes in the 2004 general election that the
selection of the next president and vice president will be the
result of a compromise.

Reviving this country is a big task which requires unity among
the people.

Presidential and vice presidential candidates still have time,
however little, to show their seriousness, integrity, toughness
and intelligence.
