TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gathering at the State Palace complex in Central Jakarta on Friday night, September 11, 2026, seven senior leaders from the Onward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus held a meeting to discuss revisions to Law No. 7/2017 on General Elections. Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the Executive Chair of the Gerindra Party, opened the meeting by presenting a study by the House of Representatives’ (DPR) Expertise Body on election regulations.
The material included proposals to change the parliamentary threshold, add requirements for the presidential threshold, separate the schedules for legislative and presidential elections, and select election organizers. “The ideas from the Expertise Body are still just options,” Dasco said in response to a text message on Thursday, September 24.
Although the meeting took place at the State Palace, President Prabowo Subianto, who also serves as General Chair of the Gerindra Party, did not attend. He was in New Delhi, India, to attend the BRICS Summit. That night, Gerindra Secretary-General Sugiono accompanied Dasco.
Tempo reviewed a copy of the Expertise Body’s material used at the meeting of KIM Plus officials. The 130-page study examined several Constitutional Court rulings related to election regulations.
