be in Megawati's court. People hope she will be able to satisfy
both her friends and foes.

Megawati must become Indonesia's president while remaining a
mother figure to the people. The entire nation is pinning its
hopes on Megawati to bring it out of this protracted crisis.
"Heaven is under a mother's feet," so say wise men.

Among other things, Megawati's administration would need an
information ministry to communicate the government's programs and
policies to the public before implementing them.

The government will gain the nation's respect if the people
have a good understanding of its programs and policies. This
information can be disseminated by the ministry's officers by
personally meeting with the public. Now that regional autonomy is
being implemented, the ministry of information can play an
important role as it can bridge the government and the people in
a two-way communication.
