The Moments Putin Launched an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile

Russia successfully conducted a test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk Region on Friday (28/8/2026) local time. The solid-fuel, mobile ICBM is described as having ‘nuclear capability’. During the test, a training warhead successfully reached its designated target at the Kura test range on the Kamchatka Peninsula. The Russian Defence Ministry stated that the launch was aimed at verifying the technical, tactical, and flight characteristics of the missile system. ‘The Strategic Missile Forces practised procedures for relocating a mobile intercontinental ballistic missile launcher battery to a remote location, preparing and carrying out the launch,’ the Russian Defence Ministry said in its statement.
