The Moments a Car Hit Several Vehicles in Central Jakarta Before Being Surrounded by Residents

Police explained the moments a car hit several vehicles on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Sawah Besar District, Central Jakarta, before being surrounded by residents. Before the incident, the car driven by a man with the initials HM was travelling from north to south.

“Upon arriving near the Lapangan Banteng bus stop, when officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it continued to move and proceeded south on Jalan Gunung Sahari,” said the Head of Traffic at the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Arry Utomo, on Wednesday (25/2/2026).

The incident occurred at approximately 17:20 WIB this afternoon. Upon arriving in front of Jalan Gunung Sahari IV, the vehicle turned left onto Jalan Gunung Sahari IV and continued onto Jalan Bungur Besar Raya.

“And turned left on Jalan Bungur Besar Raya heading north. Upon arriving at Jalan Gunung Sahari V, the vehicle turned left, driving against traffic towards the east,” he said.

The vehicle continued to drive until it reached the MBAL intersection and continued towards Jalan Dr. Sutomo heading east. Upon arriving near the Bintang Baru Hotel, the vehicle turned around heading west.

“It then returned to the MBAL intersection and turned left onto Jalan Gunung Sahari heading north until it reached the Pintu Besi intersection,” he said.

The vehicle then turned around, driving against traffic on Jalan Gunung Sahari heading south until it stopped near the Golden Truly bus stop. The vehicle was stopped by the crowd.

“The driver and the vehicle were secured at the Central Jakarta Police,” he concluded.
