The Moment Gibran's Hand Was Pulled by the MPR Speaker During a Chat, Here's What Muzani Said
People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani has revealed the content of his conversation with House Speaker Puan Maharani and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The moment was caught on camera as they waited for the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Prabowo Subianto at the Parliament Building in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. Muzani stated that they did not discuss any specific issues. The three of them, along with Regional Representative Council (DPD) Speaker Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, only talked about light topics. ‘No, we were just talking about light things with Mrs Puan, with Mas Gibran, Mr Sultan, just light conversation. About clothes, about the peci, things like that, just light chat,’ Muzani revealed. The Gerindra Party politician also explained his reason for pulling Gibran’s hand during the conversation. Muzani stressed that he was merely asking Gibran not to stand too far away while they were talking. ‘No, it was just so Mas Gibran wouldn’t be too far away. That’s all,’ he said. Based on online monitoring via the TVR Parlemen YouTube channel, Puan was initially seen chatting with MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani and DPD Speaker Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin in front of the hall door. Gibran then arrived and immediately joined the three of them. Muzani was also seen pulling Gibran’s hand to bring him closer during the conversation.
