The Meru Sanur, a hotel managed by the state-owned enterprise holding in the aviation and tourism sector, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney, through its subsidiary PT Hotel Indonesia Natour or InJourney Hospitality, has successfully secured two prestigious awards at the Tatler Best Indonesia 2026 event.

This accomplishment serves as recognition of the hotel’s standards of excellence, not only in terms of luxury but also through the quality of service that reflects Indonesia’s characteristic hospitality rooted in authentic traditions. More than just accommodation, The Meru Sanur offers an experience aligned with the philosophy of “Redefine Luxury; A Haven of Wellbeing,” which redefines luxury and places balance, serenity, and holistic health at the core of every service and facility provided.

At the event, held for the first time in Bali at the Bali Beach Convention Center on Tuesday (7/4), The Meru Sanur was crowned the winner in the “Best-in-Class: Best New Hotel” category and included in the list of “20 Best Hotels in Indonesia.”

“This award is a source of pride for the InJourney Group, as it demonstrates that The Meru Sanur has successfully delivered world-class service while remaining rooted in Indonesia’s cultural richness and hospitality. This achievement also strengthens our commitment to continuously promoting national tourism destinations and assets to become increasingly competitive on a global scale and add value to national tourism, while staying grounded in Indonesian culture,” stated InJourney’s President Director, Maya Watono, in a written statement quoted on Sunday (12/4/2026).

As part of InJourney managed through InJourney Hospitality, The Meru Sanur, located in the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone (KEK), plays a strategic role in supporting the development of this area, which is projected to become a flagship international destination for health and wellness tourism.

Previously, this site was widely known as the Grand Inna Bali Beach, which first opened in 1966 as one of Bali’s iconic international hotels. In 2022, in line with the construction of the Sanur Health KEK, the hotel was revitalised and resumed operations in 2024, transforming into The Meru Sanur & Bali Beach Hotel The Heritage Collection. As part of InJourney’s portfolio, this achievement reflects InJourney’s commitment to professionally and sustainably managing national tourism assets, with a focus not only on improving destination quality but also on creating broader and sustainable economic value.

The hotel is managed by InJourney Hospitality, a subsidiary of InJourney. Currently, InJourney Hospitality operates 13 hotel units, manages 44 hotels spread across 15 provinces in Indonesia, and serves as the Developing and Managing Business Entity (BUPP) for the Sanur Health KEK.

InJourney Hospitality’s President Director, Christine Hutabarat, expressed that this award is a point of pride and a significant milestone for InJourney Hospitality.

“Recognition as one of the 20 Best Hotels in Indonesia and Best New Hotel reflects our commitment to delivering globally competitive destinations that prioritise product quality, service, and Indonesia’s cultural richness with a holistic approach to wellness as the main added value,” stated Christine.

This was also echoed by the General Manager of The Meru Sanur & Bali Beach Hotel The Heritage Collection, Ed Brea. “For The Meru Sanur, this achievement is a reflection of our vision to build a destination that combines excellence in design, products, and service with the distinctive Indonesian hospitality. We continue to strive to provide a stay experience that is not only premium but also rooted in cultural heritage and integrated wellness,” explained Ed Brea.

Tatler Best is Asia’s leading award that curates the best hotels, restaurants, and bars, while celebrating excellence in the hospitality and culinary industries. Nominations are selected based on insights from experts and trusted Tatler community members, including food enthusiasts, travel experts, and the most influential beverage specialists in Asia.

Specifically, the Tatler Best-in-Class Awards honour Indonesia’s leading visionaries who not only set new standards but also redefine the hospitality landscape through innovation, quality, and memorable experiences. In this context, a hotel’s excellence lies not solely in physical aspects but also in intangible touches, from curated details and sincere service to experiences that create lasting memories and build guest loyalty.

The award won by The Meru Sanur as Best-in-Class: “Best New Hotel” reflects the strength of that vision, realised through the dedication and commitment of The Meru Sanur in delivering authentic, holistic, and meaningful experiences. This positions The Meru Sanur to stand out among leading hotel brands, while raising new standards in Indonesia’s hospitality industry.
