The Meru Sanur Wins Best New Hotel Award at Tatler Best Indonesia 2026
The Tatler Best Indonesia 2026 awards were held for the first time in Bali at the Bali Beach Convention Center on 7 April. This accolade recognises the excellence standards of The Meru Sanur, not only in terms of luxury but also in the quality of service that reflects Indonesia’s characteristic hospitality rooted in authentic traditions.
InJourney’s Managing Director, Maya Watono, described this achievement as a source of pride for the InJourney Group, as The Meru Sanur has successfully delivered world-class service while remaining grounded in Indonesia’s cultural richness.
“This accomplishment also strengthens our commitment to continue promoting national tourism destinations and assets to become increasingly competitive, globally competitive, and provide added value to national tourism, while remaining rooted in Indonesian culture,” Maya stated in a written release on Sunday (12/4/2026).
The Meru Sanur is located in the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone (KEK) and plays a strategic role in supporting the development of the area as a premier international destination in health and wellness tourism.
The hotel is a transformation of the Grand Inna Bali Beach, which first opened in 1966 as one of Bali’s iconic international hotels. With the development of the Sanur Health KEK in 2022, the hotel was revitalised and reopened in 2024 as The Meru Sanur & Bali Beach Hotel The Heritage Collection.
Currently, InJourney Hospitality owns 13 hotel units and manages 44 hotels spread across 15 provinces in Indonesia, while also serving as the Developing and Managing Business Entity (BUPP) for the Sanur Health KEK.
InJourney Hospitality’s Managing Director, Christine Hutabarat, described the award as an important milestone for the company.
“Recognition as one of the 20 Best Hotels in Indonesia and Best New Hotel reflects our commitment to delivering globally competitive destinations that prioritise product quality, service, and Indonesia’s cultural richness with a holistic approach to wellness as the main added value,” Christine stated.
The Meru Sanur & Bali Beach Hotel The Heritage Collection’s General Manager, Ed Brea, added that the award is a reflection of the hotel’s vision in building a world-class destination.
“For The Meru Sanur, this achievement is a reflection of our vision in building a destination that unites excellence in design, products, and service with the distinctive Indonesian hospitality. We continue to strive to provide a stay experience that is not only premium but also rooted in cultural heritage and integrated wellness,” Ed Brea explained.
