The Kwik and hard truth hurts PDI Perjuangan

State Minister of National Development Kwik Kian Gie has once
again revealed the massive corruption in this country, this time
from within his own party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of
Struggle (PDI Perjuangan), saying it was the most corrupt in the
nation.

Kwik did not just 'speak out' when making that surprising and
controversial statement. He has obviously risked his post as one
of the top officials in PDI Perjuangan and solidified his
reputation for controversy. He also could be judged harshly by
his party fellows for revealing the truth about them.

However, we believe that Kwik's statement was not slander.

Corruption, as Kwik has said, undermines not only PDI
Perjuangan, but also the whole nation, as the political parties
-- whether we understand that or not -- are a national asset.

It is the duty and responsibility now for PDI Perjuangan
members, to the people of this nation, to introspect and respond
to Kwik's bold criticism in a very mature way.
