The Journey of the Acid Attack Case Against Andrie Yunus, Now Entered into Military Prosecutor's Office
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Developments in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), continue to unfold.
Most recently, investigators from the TNI Central Military Police (Puspom) have handed over four suspects to the Military Prosecutor’s Office in Jakarta.
What are the developments and the journey of this case? Here is a summary.
While Andrie was passing by, two perpetrators riding a motorbike approached the victim from the opposite direction on Jalan Talang (Talang Bridge).
One of the perpetrators then threw acid towards Andrie, hitting parts of his body.
As a result of the attack, Andrie immediately screamed in pain and dropped his motorbike.
A few days later, TNI Headquarters announced that the incident was being investigated by military police following suspicions of military personnel involvement.
“Where it is possible that one of them concerns the assault incident against brother AY. We see that there is an opinion developing in society, suspected that the perpetrators are from the TNI,” said TNI Information Centre Head Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, Tuesday (17/3/2026).
“I need to convey that since the incident, the TNI has responded by conducting an internal investigation,” he continued.
One day later, TNI Headquarters announced that four soldiers from the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais TNI) were involved in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus.
“This morning I received that four people suspected of carrying out the assault against brother Andrie Yunus,” said TNI Central Military Police Commander Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday (18/3/2026).
Yusri stated that the four suspects are from the TNI Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches.
He explained that two of the four suspects were the executors of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, while the roles of the other two suspects are still being examined.
