The irony of tax reporting

Amid the intense government campaign through its taxation institution to encourage all citizens to possess taxpayer code numbers (NPWP) and submit their annual tax returns (SPT), still there is a foreign investment company, PT OPC (NPWP: 1-081-598-3- 407), which refuses to give up my income tax withholding certificate (form 1721-A1/2001) in spite of two written requests to the firm for this purpose.

As a consequence, I have had to hand in a request for the postponement of my submission of SPT-2001 (form 1770), to the Tax Service of Jatinegara, Jakarta, and at the same time another letter for the assistance of the Director of Tax Audit and Investigation in securing the said tax withholding evidence.

This reality is indeed ironical and constitutes a challenge to the personnel of the Directorate General of Taxation to take further action in connection with the difficulty caused by the firm to its employee already having a personal NPWP.
