PT Andalan Artha Primanusa (Andalan), a national mining services company, has announced its commitment to restoring mangrove ecosystems over the next five years through a collaboration with Jejakin, an Indonesian-based climate technology company. This initiative represents a concrete step by Andalan to strengthen the company’s contribution to the recovery of coastal environments.

As is well known, Indonesia possesses approximately 3.36 million hectares of mangrove forests, the largest in the world, yet it loses an average of tens of thousands of hectares each year due to land conversion and abrasion. As a company operating in the natural resources sector, Andalan views mangrove restoration not merely as a CSR initiative, but as an integral part of the company’s operational responsibilities.

‘Sustainability is part of the way we grow. Through this initiative, we aim to ensure that every business step we take also provides tangible contributions to the environment,’ stated Hanny Irawan, Andalan’s Operations Director, in his remarks today.

It was explained that the entire restoration process will be monitored using Jejakin’s platform, which combines AI technology and field sensors. Each mangrove tree planted will have its growth tracked periodically, with data accessible to the public via an open dashboard. This approach ensures that Andalan’s commitment extends beyond planting to measurable long-term impacts.

‘Environmental restoration requires consistency and transparency. With technology, we can ensure that every effort undertaken truly delivers measurable impacts,’ said Arfan Arlanda, Founder and CEO of Jejakin.

Beyond ecological benefits, the programme is also designed to involve local communities in the restoration areas, from seedling nursery processes and planting to maintenance, thereby creating direct economic opportunities for coastal communities.
