The Illusion of Victory at Beaufort Fort and Hezbollah's Trap: Israeli Troops Fall in the Last 48 Hours

On the morning of 31 May, the Israeli military announced its control over the Shuqif (Beaufort) Fort in southern Lebanon. Israeli propaganda and media subsequently promoted this success as an exceptional and strategically valuable military achievement. However, in less than 48 hours, field data and combat developments have indicated a different reality. The historic fort and its surrounding areas have transformed into a trap that is draining Israeli troop strength, while advancements in drone technology have successfully eliminated the strategic value of the geographical advantages previously considered vital.

Data regarding Israeli losses shows an increasing trend since 17 April, when the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah came into effect. Since then, the Israeli army has lost 14 soldiers and officers. May proved to be the most difficult period, with eight soldiers recorded dead. The situation intensified on 1 June, when two Israeli soldiers died in a single day, the highest figure since the start of the ceasefire.

According to official data, the battles at the Shuqif Fort and its surroundings between 31 May and 1 June resulted in the deaths of three Israeli military personnel: Captain Doctor Uri Yosef Silvester, Sergeant Major Adam Tsarfati, and Sergeant Major Mikhail Tyukin. Additionally, there were 14 casualties, including four individuals who sustained serious injuries.
